This website is the one stop shop for lesson resources, helpful sites and instructions.

Don't forget to ask Mr Gauci if you need help!

Welcome to project based learning! You will work with your peers to:

  • Explore key concepts of sustainability and community planning to design a project using Minecraft Education.
  • Work collaboratively to plan a project that meets real-world needs using digital tools.
  • Make informed choices about what to include in our designs.
  • Present our final project clearly through a voice-over video.
  • Reflect on our learning and communicate the purpose behind our design.

Students complete a pre-learning diagnostic test where they define certain terms (using their own words) and critically think about what might need to be included in the planning.

Students will learn what they need to include in the design of their:

a) Community Garden
b) Playground
c) Sports/eSports recreation centre

d) Farm/Wildlife Sanctuary

e) Theme Park

Students may now use their iPad’s to design their building. Remind students there is a strict two lesson policy on their building process.

Students begin a planning worksheet in their partnerships, describing what they are going to build, how work will be shared/allocated and deciding roles.

Students then begin planning for whichever building they are going to make, using their voice recording and planning worksheet as a guide.

Students continue building.

Partner one moves off to find a partner two from another pair (who will still be seated at their desks).

Partner one shows their new partner their work, guiding them through what has been built and describing it and the choices they made to them while voice recording. Partner two then provides feedback, then has their turn showing, describing and recording their building so far. Students also record the feedback from their classmate.

Students continue working on their planning sheets. Students who have finished planning the build may now be given a separate planning sheet for planning their voice recording of the house.

Students now record a 5-10 minute video of them showing and describing their project.

Students may use the checklist in the resources section to review if they have included all the necessary information.

Students have 30 minutes to record (using multiple attempts if necessary, though only one should be submitted).

Presentation of buildings.

Good Luck!
